Parents/Caregivers,
Welcome to extended school year (ESY) at the Early Childhood Center. My name is Marci Craft and I will be the lead teacher this summer. I am currently a special education teacher here at the Early Childhood Center and am going into my sixteenth year in the district! I have had the good fortune of meeting all of the students as they have begun their educational journey here at the ECC and look forward to getting to know them better as we spend time together this summer. The staff and I have a fun summer planned and I can not wait to get started. Below is some information to get us started and have a successful first week.
Date: July 5-July 28
Time: 8:30-11:30
Location: Early Childhood Center
Lunch and breakfast are provided.
Bus schedules: It is my understanding that someone from the bus company has contacted each of you with pick up and drop off time this week.
Drop off: If your child is not taking a bus, drop off will begin at 8:30 at the side doors (near the cafe as we did during the school year), and a staff member will be there to greet you. If you arrive after 8:35 please go to the main door for drop off.
Pickup will be at the same location at the side doors, beginning at 11:30. If your child’s pick up schedule is different on a particular day, please call the office. Teachers will not have access to their email during many times of the day and we do not want to place a child on a bus if they should not be there. If you need to change your student's dismissal plan going forward or for a future date, please communicate with your child's teacher about those changes via note or Parent Square.
Recess: Please note that our intention (weather permitting) is to have outdoor recess each day. Please apply any necessary sunscreen to your child prior to school. Also, be aware that our playground is filled with wood chips and therefore sneakers or closed toe shoes are recommended.
Student safety is our number one priority, when you are dropping off/picking up please do not pass the busses. Staff members will be stationed around the loop to discourage anyone from passing.
Happy Summer and please let me know if you have any questions.

k12.ct.us if you are picking up your child. - Parent drop-off will be in the smaller loop by the main entrance. Please do not block the buses.
- If you need to pick up your child up early from school or drop them off late you can come to the main entrance and sign them in or out. Please use the buzzer on the door to get in.
- Your child’s teacher will be reaching out using ParentSquare before the start of school. They will let your child know who they are and their room number. For the first few days however we will meet in the lobby to walk students to their classrooms.
- Please send younger students with a note the first day with their name, teacher and how they will be getting home the first day. This can help the arrival and dismissal process go much smoother on the first day.
