Naugatuck Public School is committed to increasing educator diversity in our schools in order to decrease the percentage gap of diverse student-to-teacher racial representation.  "Diverse" means individuals whose race is defined as other than white, or whose ethnicity is defined as Hispanic or Latino by the federal Office of Management and Budget for use by the Bureau of Census of the United States Department of Commerce (CSDE website definition). All Connecticut School districts were required to submit an approved Increasing Educator Diversity Plan by March of 2023. The Naugatuck IED plan was approved by the Board of Education in 2023. The goal of the plan is to increase the number of highly qualified diverse teachers hired in Naugatuck Public Schools by implementing targeted strategies, increased outreach and collaborative efforts.
