Assistant Director of Special Education

About Ms. Aronheim...
When I first decided to declare special education as my major in college, I drew on my own experiences in education. I always felt at home as a student in school and knew that I could bring my own love of learning to the students in my classroom. After teaching for a number of years, I recognized that ultimately it was my relationship with students and their families that most impacted their success. I pursued a master’s degree in counseling and enjoyed working in the role of school counselor at Hop Brook and Hillside Intermediate School. The faculty, administration, my students and their families confirmed the important place the role of school counselor held in all of their lives.
Ultimately, I returned to school one more time to pursue a 6th year in Educational Leadership. From a student who always felt right at home in the classroom my career has brought me full circle. In my current role as assistant director of special education, I have the opportunity to collaborate with administrators, teachers and students to share my love of teaching and learning. I can’t imagine a more rewarding vocation! The majority of my career has been spent right here in Naugatuck. I love this community! Families want the very best for their children, teachers work tirelessly to give their all every day and district administrators passionately support the people who make it so.
