Return to School Plan

Dear Naugatuck Public School Community,

On Friday, July 24, 2020 Naugatuck Public Schools submitted our  2020-2021 Return to School Plan to the CT State Department of Education.  This plan was written in alignment with the CSDE’s requirements and guidelines per Adapt, Advance, Achieve: CT’s Plan to Learn and Grow Together.  

The 2020-2021 Return to School Plan has been posted on our district website. The comprehensive plan includes the following components required by the CSDE:
  • A plan for all students to return to classroom learning in school buildings at the start of the school year;
  • A plan for distance learning for any students who choose to continue to learn online from home at the start of the school year;
  • A hybrid plan where students participate in a combination of online learning at home and in-person learning in schools;
  • A plan for improved distance learning for all students in the event that it becomes necessary to close school buildings again.
On Monday, July 27, 2020, Governor Lamont and Commissioner Cardona announced district flexibility on reopening schools in the fall. The State Department of Education and the Naugatuck Public Schools are currently committed to a full return to school but recognize that this is subject to change based on COVID-19 transmission data and the newfound flexibility. Over the next month, we will communicate our plans for the return to school as they develop or change.

We are currently preparing virtual presentations for staff and families to review our plan. More information regarding the virtual presentations will follow in the days to come.
