CAMP INVENTION IS COMING TO NAUGATUCK THIS SUMMER!

Nationally Recognized Program Encourages Creativity, Problem Solving

NAUGATUCK, Conn.; June 13, 2016 — Camp Invention, the nation’s premier summer enrichment day camp program, supported by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and a product of the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF), is coming to Naugatuck the week of August 1-5, 2016.

For students entering grades one through six, Camp Invention is a weeklong adventure through hands-on problem solving using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for inventive young minds to exercise their creativity and imagination.

This year’s Camp Invention curriculum is called Epic™, inspired by some of our nation’s most brilliant minds including experienced educators and Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Kids will spend their time:

·         Brainstorming product ideas and building original prototypes using real tools and components found in everyday devices

·         Exploring the lives of giant insects, colorful animals and their environments

·         Constructing and personalizing a DIY solar-powered cricket with a unique habitat

·         Discovering the science of slime, demolition, electronic sound, giant squid and coding

“We are thrilled to offer Camp Invention to our students for the first year,” said Kim Jones, Director of the Epic™program. “The hands-on curriculum helps to further insert curiosity into a child’s everyday lifestyle. As the need for skilled STEM professionals increases, we believe we are setting our students up for success by offering programs like Camp Invention.”

Camp invention will take place at Naugatuck High School August 1-5, 2016. Local educators will facilitate program modules with the help of enthusiastic high school students.

Early registration discounts available. Every registration includes a complimentary Camp Invention T-shirt. Some financial aid is available. Register at  www.campinvention.org or call 800.968.4332
