Nationally Recognized Program Encourages Creativity, Problem Solving

NAUGATUCK, Conn.; May 15, 2017— Camp Invention, the nation’s premier summer enrichment day camp program, supported by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and a product of the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF), is coming to Naugatuck the week of August 7-11, 2017.

For students entering grades kindergarten through six, Camp Invention is a weeklong adventure through hands-on problem solving using science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for inventive young minds to exercise their creativity and imagination.

This year’s Camp Invention curriculum is inspired by some of our nation’s most brilliant minds including experienced educators and Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame.

Kids will get to:

·         Create their own personal Spy Gadget Alarm Box by taking apart and upcycling everyday machines

·         Launch water rockets and build bubble blasters

·         Explore a distant new exoplanet and design inventions to create the next Earth

·         Design duct tape products and pitch them to mick investors.

“We are thrilled to offer Camp Invention to our students again year,” said Cathy Bosco, a reading consultant at City Hill Middle School. “The hands-on curriculum helps to further insert curiosity into a child’s everyday lifestyle. As the need for skilled STEM professionals increases, we believe we are setting our students up for success by offering programs like Camp Invention.”

Camp invention will take place at Naugatuck High School August 7-11, 2017, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Local educators will facilitate program modules with the help of enthusiastic high school students.
