NAUGATUCK SUPERINTENDENT SHARON LOCKE

TO RECEIVE MIDDLETOWN HALL OF FAME HONOR

 

NAUGATUCK, Conn.; January 24, 2017—  Naugatuck Superintendent Sharon Locke is one of 14 sports greats and two championship teams being honored as the Middletown Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017. The 24th Annual Middletown Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner will take place on Jan. 26 at 5:30 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel in Cromwell.

 

For more than a century, the people of Middletown have taken sports seriously. The Middletown Sports Hall of Fame is dedicated to preserving the accomplishments of individuals and teams. Induction of men and women began in 1994. Every individual inducted into the Middletown Sports Hall of Fame was an accomplished athlete, coach, trainer,  manager, or contributor to Middletown Sports. Every year, residents of Middletown are invited to nominate inductees.

 

Locke, who was raised in Middletown, was an extraordinary swimmer at the collegiate, high school and amateur levels. Locke’s competitive swimming career began at the Northern Middlesex YMCA, where she set multiple team records. She was a four-year competitor and varsity team captain as a junior and senior at Wilson and Middletown High. She continued swimming  at the University of New Hampshire, where she also won numerous titles and championships.
